Speed limits on Build vs Launch

I am getting closer to launching, but I'm noticing delays that will impact my approach to displaying information in my web app. Is it normal for an api call to take .6 sec when the query itself takes .06 sec? Maybe this is a limitation of the Build plan shared resources. How long should I expect a this to take on the Launch plan? I think my frontend is also slow to display data. It's on WeWeb, and they say the performance will improve later this year.
